PORTICA data protection officer becomes new council chairman
Kempen. Michael te Neues, data protection officer at PORTICA, is the new chairman of the DirectMail Services Council of the DDV - the German Dialogue Marketing Association, or Deutsche Dialogmarketing Verband. Members of the group elected the former vice-chairman to succeed Frank Steffes in the role. This means that for the next three years, Michael te Neues will act as the bridge between council members and the DDV’s board of directors, as the membership’s position in on the association’s board is closely linked to the function of the council chairman.
Ever since 2002, when PORTICA became a member of the DDV’s DirectMail Services Council, Michael te Neues has been closely involved with the committee, which has since grown to become the largest council in the association. A total of 106 service providers, from areas including addressing, lettershop and full service fulfilment, are represented within the council. Its goal is to promote both quality and quantity in directed advertising and to create a positive public image for direct mailing. The council believes in quality standards and transparency of services, and in establishing the council as a clear point of contact for reaching competent individuals.
A basic requirement for membership of the council, demonstrated through a certification process, is compliance with specific quality and service standards guaranteeing fairness for users and clients. This lends additional weight to the association’s arguments. “I want to strengthen the council and its voice”, explained Michael te Neues. His plans include trust-building measures to communicate a positive image of the organisation, increasing the membership count and balancing different interests. In line with the council’s procedural rules, Michael te Neues will promote active sharing of information both within the committee and with other organisations and associations, and will help strengthen the group’s German headquarters.
This voluntary role also highlights PORTICA’s desire to engage above and beyond the normal standard – both with its customers and with the industry as a whole.
